Embrace equity-The real meaning of Women’s Day has been defined now. I believe the “Men Vs Women” debate has finally been answered now!
Whenever the day “International Women’s Day” is observed, we see heated arguments and backfires from each side. Women claim gender equality and men claim to be competing with them. However, I believe that the real meaning of women’s day has finally been discovered.
Why is “Gender equality” not an appropriate term?
Women’s Day is observed to celebrate the achievements and contributions women play to society. Women work in various areas: from being house wife to being a CEO of the company, from being a doctor to being single parents.
The day is not the latest trend, it has been celebrated for decades. In the past decades, girls were not allowed to vote and they were not allowed to gain an education. But, time revolved and people’s perspectives also revolved. However, “Women’s Day” is still celebrated and the achievements of women are highlighted on this occasion. Conferences, marches, seminars, and various activities are held.
However, things became complicated in the name of “Gender Equality”. Women should get equal education and they should be given similar career opportunities as men. That is what this term means. But, modern idea wants women to compete or hate men. Feminism activities were started in which men are being trolled. On the other hand, Women who support real feminism are being trolled by men. Thus, the actual significance of this day seemed to have vanished.
How is “Gender Equity” so appropriate?
Both men and women deserve respect and both sides should acknowledge each other. A lot of women's rights are still in question these days. Gender Equity means women should be given the rights they are deprived of. They should be given “justifiable” rights and they should be respected in the areas where they are not being treated well.
Women should be allowed to choose their profession as they want. They should be given the right to education. But, their position in society should be justified and celebrated. The annoying ‘Men Vs Women’ competition should end now!
