Lights, camera, drama! In the era of the internet and social media, it is finally good to see theatre plays being given immense significance.

Ullu aur Billi recently made headlines due to its unique content and an incredible presentation. After a long gap of the covid period, art lovers finally rushed to the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) to watch refreshing theatre that cheered up their moods.

This masterpiece is a desi adaptation of Bill Manhoff’s play “The owl and the pussycat”. It is said in science that opposite poles attract. We see this sometimes in real life as well. The play involves two characters; Sharafat (played by Syed Qasim Shah) and Naina (played by Hani Taha). Both have opposite backgrounds, but they build good chemistry among themselves afterward. Sharafat appears to be a writer, having a good command of the Urdu language. He chooses his words wisely while speaking and possesses a soft tone. On the other hand, Naina calls herself a model, having a bold personality and being a call girl by profession.

Writer Saqib Khan’s job is worth appreciating here and he knows how to play with words. While Sharafat uses pure Urdu words in a sweet tone, Naina speaks loudly, having no words filter. Apart from that, director Ansaar Mahar did great justice to both characters. A clear balance of the girl's louder voice and boy's sweet voice was seen in the drama. Their exchange of words truly brought a laughter spell to the audience.

Art and drama lovers got a chance to watch this incredibly-executed drama from May 27 to May 29. Hoping to see much more content like this in the future.
